Abstract
The El Niño phenomenon is a recurring event that causes high temperatures and reduced rainfall, significantly affecting soil moisture. In the long term, this will affect the quality and health of the soil, resulting in reduced crop productivity, including forage crops such as sorghum. Efforts to improve and maintain soil health after El Niño stress include applying a combination of biochar and eco-enzymes to damaged soil. This study aims to assess the effects of a combination of biochar and eco-enzymes on sorghum growth and production in pastureland affected by El Niño stress. This study was conducted using a completely randomized design with six treatments and three replications. The treatments tested in this study were P0 = without biochar and eco-enzyme (control), P01 = biochar 5 tons/ha, P02 = eco-enzyme 15 ml/m2, P1 = Biochar 5 tons/ha + eco-enzyme 7.5 ml/m2, P2 = Biochar 3 tons/ha + eco-enzyme 15 ml/m2, and P3 = Biochar 5 tons/ha + eco-enzyme 22.5 ml/m2. The results obtained showed that this combination had a significant effect (P<0.05) on plant length, stem circumference, leaf width, and number of tillers as well as sorghum production and had no significant effect (P>0.05) on the number of leaves. Based on the results, the combination of biochar and eco-enzyme has a positive effect on sorghum growth and production.
