Abstract

The utilization of fishery by-products has been recognized as an effective alternative solution to address the challenges of feed ingredient availability. One of the fishery by-products that holds potential for feed production is Gosse. However, there are challenges in using Gosse as duck feed due to its nutrient content, which is not yet optimal to meet the nutritional needs of ducks. This study aims to analyze the changes in the nutritional quality of Gosse after the addition of EM4. The research was conducted at the Polytechnic of Agriculture in Pangkajene and Islands, with proximate analysis covering moisture content, ash content, crude protein, crude fiber, and crude fat, carried out in the laboratory of the institution-fiber, and crude fat, carried out in the laboratory of the institution's laboratory. The method employed was a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with four treatments and three replications. The treatments were: P0 (Gosse without the addition of EM4), P1 (5% EM4 addition), P2 (10% EM4 addition), and P3 (15% EM4 addition). The results showed that the best nutrient quality for moisture content and crude fat was found in P0 (without EM4), while the best ash content was observed in P2 (10% EM4 addition). The optimal results were achieved in P3 (15% EM4 addition) for crude protein and fat, which requires further testing at higher levels.
