Abstract
The most critical stadia of shrimp larval development are the zoea and mysis stadia. Zoea stadia has a lower survival rate compared to other stadia, even death in zoea stadia can reach 90% before developing into mysis. Efforts to improve shrimp survival can be made by improving the quality of feed nutrients, one of which is by giving Thalassiosira sp. enriched with omega-3 from squid oil. This study aimed to determine the effect of Thalassiosira sp. enriched with omega-3 from squid oil on the growth and survival of vaname shrimp larvae (Litopenaeus vannamei). The experimental design used is a complete randomized design (CRD) consisting of 4 treatments and 3 replicates, namely treatment K: Control (without enrichment), A: Enrichment of Thalassiosira sp. with squid oil 0.05 ml/L, B: Enrichment of Thalassiosira sp. with squid oil 0.07 ml/L, and C: Enrichment of Thalassiosira sp. with squid oil 0.1 ml/L. Vaname shrimp larvae used at the zoea stadia were reared until the mysis stadia by observing their growth and survival. The results showed that feeding Thalassiosira sp. enriched with omega 3 from squid oil at a dose of 0.1 ml/liter (treatment C) gave a better effect than the other treatments, where larval length growth was 5.1 mm and weights of about 1.12 mg, survival was 85% with fat content in the feed after enrichment of 13.69%.
